Cardiff Living is an exciting development partnership between Wates Residential and the City of Cardiff Council. The programme will deliver 1,700 new homes across 40 sites in Cardiff over a 10-year period.
At least 40% (around 680) of the 1,700 total homes will be council homes, available for rent through the Council’s existing allocations process, with a small number being made available to first time buyers through the Council’s low cost home ownership scheme.
The remaining 60% (around 1020) homes will be available for purchase on the open market under the Cardiff Living brand. All properties will meet high levels of sustainability and energy efficiency, ensuring that we help tackle fuel poverty.

One of the key objectives of the project is to maximise investment in Cardiff’s communities. The project will deliver substantial benefits including the creation of long-term local training and employment programmes as well as opportunities for local businesses and community groups. Community investment highlights include:
The Cardiff Council’s Cardiff Living affordable housing scheme is a £100m project, which will see the construction of over 1,700 new homes.
Principal Design Manager, Stuart Jones, tells us more about the Cardiff Living Passivhaus scheme that will see 42 affordable homes built to the Passivhaus low energy building standard, which is designed to create energy efficient homes.
